Title IX of 1972
States:
"No person in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal aid"
Title IX generated a revolution in girls and young women’s access to sports. Before Title IX: women were not admitted or were forced with strict limits. The main focus is that women are given the same opportunity as men in college athletics and were able to recieve the same amount of aid. This made a college education more realistic and reachable for women.
